Shan Y. Chuang (she/her) / Vocal Technique & Advanced Dance
is an accomplished actor, singer, dancer, choreographer and pianist who was born and raised in Taiwan. She holds an MFA in Musical Theater from one of the top universities in Taiwan, National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU), a BA in classical voice from the University of Taipei, specializing in Music Education, and she is a graduate of Circle in the Square Theatre School (Professional Musical Theatre Workshop ’14).
Acting credits include Caligula, Liminal Archive, The Surrogate, Behind the Mask, Tiananmen Requiem, Once Upon A Mattress, Anything Goes, Smokey Joe’s Cafe, Comfort Women: A New Musical, and Monkey King: A Musical (reading).
Choreography and Dance credits include 10 years in the making, 10 years of me; Untitled Girl Narrative and I Could Never Love Anyone…with Katharine Pettit Creative; Soul of the Sea, Unseen and Freaks Don’t Cry with LINKED Dance Theatre; Choreography Lab, and Reminiscing Taiwan: A Mini Musical, etc.
Shan is currently teaching Singing Technique at Circle in the Square Theatre School and is a frequent collaborator with Katharine Pettit Creative and NYC Queer Playback Theater. She is also an active member of National Asian Artists Project Chorus (NAAP) and Pan American Vocology Association (PAVA).
